Working Group Theory of Electronic Correlations and Collective Phenomena

Head: Prof. Dr. Joerg Schmalian

The theory group aims at explaining and modeling phenomena investigated by the experimental efforts along with the prediction of novel behavior and novel states of matter in collective quantum systems. The specific approaches are threefold:

  • incorporation of correlation effects into first-principle theories,
  • first-principles determination of the coupling between lattice and electronic system, and
  • development of phenomenological and model-Hamiltonian-based theories to describe correlated materials.
