Working Group Quantum Control

Our working group develops various novel experimental methods how to use scanning electron microscopy ("STM") to position, characterize and manipulate single molecules on surfaces in a controllable way.

One topic is the use of tripodal molecules as mechanical switches on an atomic scale.

Another topic is the investigation of the light emission of single molecules adsorbed on well defined singles crystal surfaces. At present, many issues of this research area are still only rudimentarily understood on the molecular scale. An application perspective is the development of single-molecule organic light emitting diodes ("OLED").
